Dr. Ruth Bass Green, President and CEO
Dr. Ruth Bass Green is an active educator, teacher of piano and voice and a church musician. She has served underprivileged and privileged students of diverse age, race and gender for over 50 years. In her work as music educator, she is a spokeswoman for the legacy of the Negro Spirituals and the priceless contributions they bring to the genre of music in the Americas. Her teachings and travels abroad, in Europe and Africa, further fueled her determination to cultivate a deeper passion and respect for the transformative personal and social power of the arts. She is unerring in her belief and devotion to the idea that “music is a healing, cross- cultural gift and bridge” that can unite and grow connections at profound levels of heart, mind and spirit. Ruth received a BA in Music Education from California State University at Los Angeles, CA (1971) a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education (1973) and a Doctorate in Educational Studies from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst MA (1981).
